Kayaking in the Mangrove Forest

On Sunday afternoon, after a lazy, relaxed morning/ early afternoon, Jen (Canadian), Denise (Canadian), Liza (South African), Jacqueline and I decided to go kayaking in the mangrove forest! Being on the southern part of the other side of Koh Chang, the five us split a taxi for 1200 baht, roundtrip to the mangrove forest, Salak Kos. This was an amazingly beautiful adventure, in which the five of us in three kayaks (I went by myself) were the only kayakers through the mangroves (a plus, due to the slow season). They gave us a laminated map and told us to follow the 7 points, and then ended with "don't go into the ocean!" Haha... there was a point where the grove opened up into a bay area into the ocean, but we just cut across it. The kayaking was slow and simple and really offered breathtaking sights of untouched Koh Chang. You must just see the photos. This is a definite must for anyone that comes to Koh Chang.

Heading into a very narrow part of the trip...
